MiGS supports three models for handling card transactions:
• | Server Hosted Transactions for the Internet Merchant |
• | Merchant Hosted Transactions for the Internet Merchant |
• | Merchant Hosted Transactions for the Call Center Merchant |
Server Hosted Transactions for the Internet Merchant
The cardholder purchases goods or services from an Internet merchant and pays online directly to the secure MiGS payment server operated by MasterCard. The merchant does not capture or store the credit card details. Therefore, merchants are not exposed to security issues in regards to the storage and handling of customer credit card information.
Merchant Hosted Transactions for the Internet Merchant
When a cardholder purchases goods or services from an Internet merchant, their credit card details are submitted directly to the merchant. The merchant then submits the payment details in a secure message via the Internet directly to the secure MiGS payment server operated by MasterCard.
Merchant Hosted Transactions with Authentication
This environment is similar to the merchant hosted model, except once the cardholder has submitted their card details to the merchant, they get redirected to the MiGS secure payment server to complete the authentication process before the transaction message is sent for authorization.
